My first completed artwork of 2023 is Fisherman’s Home at Lake Onslow, Central Otago.
When I visited this location it was bathed for just a moment in golden autumn light as the sun left for the day.
I imagined a fisherman, standing alone in the lake, the cold water pressing against his waders, impervious to the sandflies and listening to the persistent plops of the trout feeding. Did he catch anything? Is this the warm shelter, the place he called home that night?
Original artwork painted with acrylic on cedar framed board
After quite some time I have completed 'Endless Evening at Lake Alexandrina'. Having visited the lake many times, this long calm evening pictured in the painting has been the most memorable. I arrived late on a balmy autumn afternoon having never visited before, and it was simply stunning, not a breath of wind with the last golden leaves grasping onto the tree branches. Time seemed eternal as the sun slowly sank behind the hills. More visits over the years...
Now officially available as a limited edition art print isSundown at Lake Morgan, Mt O'Shanessy, West Coast, New Zealand - available in four sizes available to fit your space perfectly. This art print is an archival quality reproduction made from the original painting...
Although already late in the year this is the first original I have released for 2024. Sundown at Lake Morgan has been both a challenge and a pleasure to work on with the delicate sun haze fades combined with very subtle colour mixing and as always the intricate detail kept me very busy.
