St Arnaud Range is very easily accessed from below, in fact so much so that I took my kid’s along the range recently to explore one of the places I find most beautiful. Here is the route that we took along the range and down Powder Valley. Also some photos from various trips along the ridge and the some of the paintings so far that have been inspired from the range, with more likely to follow in the future.
The walk begun with a run, well actually more like a jog, in boots. I dropped everyone at the start of the Waston Creek Route then drove back to the end of the Jameson Ridge Track, parked and jogged back. The track started as a grassy track, out in the open unrelenting sun, blasted by the wind and being directed on possibly the longest route around the Ella Stations Hop fields in the hottest...

After quite some time I have completed 'Endless Evening at Lake Alexandrina'. Having visited the lake many times, this long calm evening pictured in the painting has been the most memorable. I arrived late on a balmy autumn afternoon having never visited before, and it was simply stunning, not a breath of wind with the last golden leaves grasping onto the tree branches. Time seemed eternal as the sun slowly sank behind the hills. More visits over the years...
